Surroundings
Located between the two largest lakes in Sweden, Vänern and Vättern, in central Sweden, three hours away from both Göteborg and Stockholm, lies the beautiful Tiveden.
This magnificent primeval area is formed by the Ice Ages and bordered by deep crystal clear lakes and forests. A unique area, where the ice has carried huge boulders in kilometers. The glaciers have given the curves to these mountain slopes and hills for thousands of years during their melting process.
In the National Park Tiveden you can view this phenomena. There are a dozen challenging routes to walk and climb between these exciting rocks, ravines and caves. In addition, there are several interesting nature reserves to visit, like the Fagertärnlake, Utnäset and Vargavidderna.
Small villages and towns such as Askersund on the north side of the Lake Vättern, the fortress of Karlsborg, the Gotakanaal and the locks from Forsvik, offer a number of museums and attractions. The historic city of Örebro with its castle is also worth a visit.
